    Why is it we’re so bent and prone to harm?
    Is there no potion, remedy or charm
    To change our wayward tendencies and cure
    A malady whose nature is obscure?

    What thing is universal that we share
    That might unite humanity in care
    To override aggression, greed and fear,
    Leaving our nature purified and clear?

    It’s love alone, as is so often said,
    Exalting heart above revolting head,
    That leads to peace and precious harmony
    Solving our errant nature’s mystery.
