OUR THOUGHTS ARE NOT REAL BUT THE PEACE OF THE NOW IS

There is so much on my mind lately that I forget that thoughts are just a collection of words I give meaning to and they are not reality. By this I mean that my thoughts about a client are just my thoughts not necessarily what is real. I think about what Pat Robertson said, “that the Haitian people are suffering because they have a pact with the devil,” and I think he actually believes his thoughts and that is sad. I see myself judging him and when I am conscious I recognize my thoughts are just thoughts and instead I turn to compassion.

The escalation of the war in Afghanistan has caused lots of thoughts as you can see by my serious of letters to the President. These thoughts are neither good nor bad, just thoughts in my head about circumstances that I disagree with and I am working on being more peaceful inside. Then there is the healthcare battle that also has my head going on about the lack of needed and real change happening, and when conscious, I see the energy those thoughts are just a bunch of judgment I have that creates uncomfortable emotions. I am getting upset over what is going on in my head and frankly that doesn’t seem like what I want to be experiencing. Real change begins inside with the expansion of my/our ability to be present in a peaceful and compassionate way.

Excuse my rambling but there are several points here that may be of value. First please realize that all your thoughts are just words and they do not represent reality just your interpretation of it. Reality is only happening in the moment and our thoughts too often get in the way of appreciating what is.

Another important point is that our thoughts create within us an emotional response. If we think things are lousy, we will feel lousy. If we think things are great we will experience life with more openness. Yet, on another level, if we understood our thoughts aren’t real we would free ourselves from much of the reactivity of emotions. Emotions come from being in our mind away from the present moment. If we wander in our thinking off to the unfinished business of the past or wishing for a different future we create emotions of discontent. If we free our minds enough to be present then what arises is the happiness and peace of the now.

Yes I know the mind just keeps on like a tree full of yakking crows but in those moments of awareness, of insight, of being fully present in the now, there is “being” that is totally free. This state of being is who you and I are beyond our thoughts and our emotional reactions. In this state beyond noisy mind is the knowing of our higher nature, our spirit, our unity with the creative source of the universe.

Enjoy your weekend. Enjoying the weekend is best accomplished by taking a few minutes here and there to step past the busy mind. Remember we are spiritual beings having a human experience, not the other way around.

Paul, so true. It seems to me there is purpose in the power it takes. It's like training for things to come.

Thank you Joseph for your words of truth and wisdom. It is great to be reminded, for the simple things are generally the most powerful and hardest to do! Why I know not, but it does tend to be the way. Perhaps it is just as we develop the conscious mind and left brain way of analyzing the word, we move further from out natural state of being in the now, free from thoughts and the trapping of intellectualism! I am a professional thinker and tend to sabotage my own development by over thinking... I do feel I was at more peace before, but now the outside influences are really knocking on the door so to speak. It takes immense inner power to remain imperturbable, but truly essential in todays circus...

Yes I experienced something like that the other day. I walked to my car and there was a dead dove. Just when I saw it, the song I was listening mentioned a dove had flown. Although at first a thought it wasn't a pretty sight, the connection made me smile and I took a closer look at the dead bird. A good observation. Dead is as much part of live as birth is.

These are the last lines of my first reaction:
There are two ways of thoughts being words. The way you describe and the way where perceptions (living pictures in your mind) speak to you. Then it's not you playing with words but words are spoken to you.

and somewhere in the middle:

In thinking lies the power to make clear what is your part and what's the world's.

What I was trying to point out is the possibility of holding back the ego.

If you want the world to speak to you, if you want to hear what is says you must listen. Really listen, holding back your every thought, your ego, keep quiet, get yourself out of the equation and then you'll notice the world speaks out in your mind.

Don't you believe your own thoughts? If so I don't see your point. If they are not true, not real and just a bunch of words with no meaning why should we have this dialogue then?

Just by your picture Ferdinand, I would say you actually believe your own thoughts. The ego-mind will always argue that thoughts are real because that is its way of controlling. There is a knowing beyond the mind, that some called wise-mind. That place of knowing is in the now and there is peacefulness, joy and love in that place.

The mysteries of life will never be understood from the ego-mind because it is never in the moment.

Since writing the declaration:

http://www.worldshift2012.tv/profiles/blogs/the-declaration-of-indi...

I wake up at night, or when i'm lucky early in the morning, thinking what to do. Almost anything is possible.

Right now I am clearing ground together with my dad. We do this in the house of an artist and his wife. He is also a teacher and next to being mother of four she gives courses to couples who will be parents soon.

A wooden floor is nice. It is alive, it changes color and gets scars and brused over time. With the help of machines we are renewing it. Not that you can't see it hasn't been lived on, but the effort gives it a fresh and clean look. It makes me think of nature, always renewing and undoing peoples wrong doing.

That is why whe should use more natural materials. They bring you in coherence with the earth. They are gifts and should be treated with care. Then the gifts keep on giving because they are living. What joy!

In the next comment I place some of my thoughts but now I would like to react on what you describe. The way thinking works on ourselves and what we say becomes very clear in your story. But there is one fundamental flaw. Thoughts are real!
I must say this because you'll lose track if you keep thinking this. But you say it yourself thoughts influence the way you feel. And this influences the way you see and react to the world. Everything you experience comes to existence as a combination of yourself and the world. In thinking lies the power to make clear what is your part and what's the world's.
But within thinking lies more, and thinking are not only words, what about pictures and imagination? I belief in thinking lies the key in understanding the mystery of life. Because it is possible to take complete control of your thinking (this takes practice) you can also clear your mind. Watch this free space and wait. Suppress every thought that comes up until there is one which makes you happy. You need to stay with this thought because the mind tends to think a thousand thoughts and then your missing it.
When you look at a thought coming up you watch creation in proces. This is life. And because it's you who are the creator of your thoughts you can solve the mystery.

There are two ways of thoughts being words. The way you describe and the way where perceptions (living pictures in your mind) speak to you. Then it's not you playing with words but words are spoken to you.
