Let me, with the integrity of Truth, somewhat more introduce myself.

Hello,

I just, (a few hours ago, in the midst of my "night",) became admitted to membership in and on this blog. I found it via some information I had just prior in the night received from a recent (within the last 9 or 10 months) acquaintance of mine who currently resides in Australia, with whom I spoke and appealed to via the telephone. In "applying" for membership, because “applying” required entry of a “name”, I typed in the name you see me now registered by.

I use the name “Hugh Mann” not necessarily to "hide my ... (so called) ... 'true identity'", (though, in truth, I also somewhat do.) But also at least, I do so to remove, by my “choice” of action, what I regard as "inappropriate" this giving our "names" as "labels" received from our parents, without any “choice” in the matter or manner, on our parts, at or near the time of each of our individual births.  Too often, in my view these “required” names become a way for those who would govern over us to rather invade portions of our privacy, too often in this day of this age, too insidiously so. These labels, come too often to represent who we individually “are” by reputation or otherwise and not perhaps our "truer" selves.

Therefore, for very pragmatic reasons, and, I consider, as well, with “rectitude” and “justice” on my side, I utilize the name "Hugh Mann".

Many of my present personal acquaintances, accordingly, simply now call me "Hugh", or as I sometimes state it, "Hugh will do.".

Also, this name I now use has a clearly intended "double meaning". It represents exactly (if pronounced in "American” “standard” English,) just who my being represents. I, no more nor less than "simply", in all our shared complexities, represent, like you the "reader", a "Hugh Mann" or "HUMAN!", loud and clear.  For me, there exists no true "racial" or other rather "manufactured" ersatz divide between us.  We all remain, of the species, Homo sapiens, L., no "better" nor "worse" overall, as to our inherent "value" as a human being, than any of the rest of "us" out there who exist or have existed, in the past, on this Spaceship Earth (as named by the late, "great" Buckminster Fuller). We all inhabit full time, this Planet Earth of ours and other "beings", in the normal routine of our daily lives, just as those of our kind who came before us, and might in the future come after us in all the "history" of the members of that species of ours, as far as we now best currently objectively know.

(Note: On this last, as an aside, I do recognize here there did and still do exist as presently living, a very few of us who, in point of fact, did, it seems, go outside this Planet Earth's immediate environs, to our accompanying space satellite, we know  as the Earth's "MOON". More perhaps in another blog post on extensions to this last "claim" of mine, and its more precise "inaccuracies" or "incompleteness", as just stated.)

I do exist, in the “here-and-now” present, in the early part of my fourth quartile of a century phase of life since I came from my mother’s womb, now more than 75 years ago.  On this point I make little of it. 

To me, “age” for any one of us neither guarantees nor inherently deserves, in my particular “Pantheon” of "values" any more “necessarily” inherent respect, than any other age, of any “Hugh Mann’s” lifetime.  You may “disagree” with me, and you may choose to “argue” with me.  I simply don’t any longer much “choose” to do the latter—nor do I inherently reject your seeing any part of life in the matter of one’s age representing something of greater or lesser “value” per se, than necessarily any other year, decade, or quartile of a century of life, from conception to what we may call "death", or even on into a perceived "Hereafter", as you may believe of the latter, as an expression of what you might call something like: your "Faith", in some deity or whatever.

But, I do strenuously OBJECT(!), even in non-violent resistance to your acts, (not through “pacifism” so called,) if in any manner you seek to “look down upon” another and the worthiness of their being, supposed “enemy” or no, simply because they live in another place, for example, other than these “United States of America”, or because you or others claim and/or proclaim them an “enemy” (“… combatant” or otherwise), and make effort to "protect" "OUR way of life", "OUR way of doing things", over "theirs", through any acts of violence; inclusive, especially, acts based on some "theory"   of "just war" or other euphimisms you or others might justify such acts by.  "Just War", as a frequent supposed moral principle, for me simply represents, from whomever lips it comes, as forever totally "unnecessary" and "unacceptable", in my best considered current judgment!

There I do, it seems, draw a limit—a LINE! There I do continue to hope to stand firm and strong as my aging frame will permit me, against such unjust tyranny of regarding some as “them”   as not “us”, all of us, writ large, as “Hugh Mann(s)". As well I do strive to respect as of true "importance" of other “creatures” on this Planet Earth and even, perhaps, as may exist, and yet become "found" as existing within our known universe!

For me my concern for the extension of Mankind's  continued existance represents most probably, in the end, a rather human (or if you will "Hugh Mann") "conceit", on my part, as to the "importance" of our rather puny selves within the vast Universe, that, (inexactly stated,) "surrounds" us! The extent, of that vast universe, we can  by now, in this present stage of our existence, only detect as inclusive of billions of galaxies, some of which at this moment in space/time may no longer exist, as we only now detect their light as faint glimerings of their existence, from "our' "past", litterally billions of years ago, at the possible dawn of our now perceived Space/Time.  However, in that "humaness" of mine, I do still "care"!

Now, I shall move on to another point of Truth.

In applying for inclusion as an “approved” member of your blog group I chose a zip code for my residence that does not actually represent the “town” in which I presently make my primary domicile.  I do not live, in a portion of the Borough of Manhattan, in the “Big Apple” of New York City, NY, but in a place a bit to the north of there, within MTA commuting distance of the renowned Grand Central Station, within the midtown portion of that borough. And, from there,  I can fairly easily reach other parts of the “Big Apple”, to meet with others of like interest, intent and devotion as similar to my own, regarding the continued existence of our species for a little longer time period on this Earth than for which we presently seem most likely headed! 

Otherwise, if we do not all now “pitch in”, we all may well remain on a pathway to our too soon very extinction, as an animal species, i.e., again, Homo sapiens, L., (as we otherwise rather  with a sort of hubris call ourselves.) Should we, both individually as well as collectively, even “yesterday”, now not “get more with it”; "get our act together", for the purpose for which Ervin Lazlo may have headed the creation of this blog site, and upon which, as a blogger, I now make my “maiden voyage, ... then that (our extinction) may well become our fate even potentially within my brief otherwise remaining lifetime, but more certainly, overall, within the span of one hundred (100) to two hundred (200) more years, with the ensuing years from now seeing greater and greater human misery upon the face of our Earth, before THE END, FINIS, finally comes.

I do now look forward to any respectful, even thought-full (sp. again intended) replies of yours to this my first blog posting. Perhaps a few of you and I will make further contact, face to face, I hope even sooner than later as I believe we all have "much work to do" jointly acting together.
