WorldShift 2012

Later that same decade, in 1979, I painted "Alignment", a 6' x 7' oil on canvas painting from a vivid dream of flying through the universe.  This seemed to in some way be an updated version of that first painting, Shaman, the the theme was roughly similiar, only the idea was that there was something important about a time when things lined up.  Unbeknownst to me there was a partial planetary alignment during that time and I recall that when I learned of this I assumed that I might have had this in mind.  Now coming toward the time of this other much larger and more significant alignment in galactic terms the painting has new meaning.

What was to be a lone painting with particular meaning ended up being part of a series of three, and then that evolved to become a series of thirteen forming a triangle.  The number 13 has felt like a special number over the years but it just happened to be what worked out in order to form the triangle.   All throughout my sort of obsession with this project (1979 - 1988) I just felt it needed to be done.  As to why it needed to be so large is a mystery and only relates to the fact that the first piece was big.  A personal myth about the whole piece, which has never been fully assembled and only shown in pieces here and there, is that something major will happen when the 13 pieces are shown.  The reason I was writing to Jose Arguelles was to ask for his help in making this happen some time in 2012.
