A more beautiful song: economics for the new consciousness...

I attended a conference in Glastonbury last year concerning the 2012 predictions (2013 - Day One), but it was not from the point of view of 'doom and gloom', but rather from a positive perspective related to raising of consciousness.  Afterwards I found myself writing the following (my particualr interest is economics, especially the work of Henry George as outlined in his book 'Progress and Poverty', and how this might fit into the puzzle of transformation...):

A more beautiful song: economics for the new consciousness...

Upheavals

We live in a time of upheavals.  Yet, along with all the problems humanity has delivered unto itself, from environmental breakdown to social chaos and tragedy, we are told that we are about to receive a massive injection of conscious energy, both from above and below.  New planetary alignments and a shift in the planetary magnetic force are about to crash into our consciousness waking us up to new possibilities and forcing us to face the dissolution of old ways, old myths.

The new vibration – in potential

If we can hang onto optimism and hope and maintain some kind of ordered system enough to allow the changes, but not so much to prevent a radical fresh imagined future, we will be able to ride the crest of this massive wave of conscious energy and when it crashes onto the Earth we will be ready to live the changes, the new ways of connecting with each other and with nature that supports us.   The old ‘power-over’ social structures will be swept away and new community cohesion, currently cocooned in a great protected mind swell, will appear as though readymade, imagined into existence by those genius’s ahead of the game, to take the place of the already dead ways of control and suppression.   Arriving like a beautiful butterfly, fresh and delicate, bringing in diversity, creativity and tolerance in how we work, play and manage ourselves.  Power-from-within and personal responsibility will replace the controlling power driven human societies we currently endure.  Optimistic, positive conditions will allow us to relate to each other in more respectful ways, to work together to make the best for everyone, not to try to get the best for ourselves at the expense of others and the environment.

Human transformation

This human metamorphosis is closer than some of us realise and we need to work on our own vibration, our own conscious awareness, to make sure we are ready to join the wave when it arrives.   Old stories, especially negative emotions and worries need to be put aside, they are going to be obsolete anyway, and positive, fresh optimistic approaches to our daily lives need to be nurtured.  Meditations are helpful, and time in nature, lots of time in nature – by the sea, in the woods, simply in our own gardens.  Feeling the earth, communing with the animals, birds, plants, insects.  All these things can connect us more deeply to consciousness, and as our individual vibration gets in tune it will help others to connect.  It will help us to connect with each other in deeper more meaningful ways.   Words are not the only way of communicating.  In silence we can communicate better with nature, but not just physical silence, mental silence.  In the words of a spiritual teacher, Gangaji:

"When we allow our thinking minds to come to silence there is peace. Not a peace that we have to make. It is a peace that is here. It is here naturally. We do all kinds of things to try to get this peace, but if we are willing, for a few minutes, just to allow the thinking to stop, we discover it is here. This is the essence of my teacher's teaching: when you are willing to stop looking for something in thought, you find everything in silence."

In nature with the mind silent, we can listen – to the birds, the wind in the trees, we can feel the air on our bodies, the earth under our bare feet.   We can grow things, food, flowers, trees.  Tending our gardens naturally, putting the poisons aside, and allowing the creatures and plants some space to sort themselves out.

Once we begin to feel our way into the new energy, and accept it, allowing it to rise in us we will open our minds to new ideas more readily, be less afraid of what we do not yet know or understand.   Just allowing the conscious love to enter our lives will help to transform us in ways we can’t imagine with our minds.  We have to let go and allow it to happen.  Only then will we be ready to get back to the task of reorienting our economic systems and rethinking our social and political structures.

Economic re-tuning – a more beautiful song

Economics needs to get in tune with this new frequency, the new vibration.  It needs a radical upheaval.   A new vision – a more beautiful song.  Fundamental values need to be reassessed.   Fundamental assumptions need to be questioned.   There is enough for everyone once power-over is transformed into power-from-within.   Once greed, and its polar opposites, poverty and envy, are cast aside.  We can create and produce sustainably, if we are not too demanding.  Cooperation can easily replace competition as a value in economic ideas and systems.  Caring and creativity can provide new foundations for our economic systems.  Sharing can become a part of our economic relations.  Economics can be both sustainable and equitable, and this will help to reorient community relationships.  There are ways of shifting the conditions of current economic endeavours to provide a more fair playing field and crucially a more natural playing field.  All the knowledge is already here, what is lacking is the will, enough to provide the critical mass for the shift to occur.  But the new vibration is arriving, and humanity will get all the energy it needs for a surge in critical mass, but we will have to tune in and allow new systems to materialise in our communities in their own ways, like pieces of a puzzle falling into place to complete the whole.  Economics is a part of that puzzle.

As Barbara Marx Hubbard put it in her book ‘Conscious Evolution’:

“If the positive innovations connect exponentially before the massive breakdowns reinforce one another, the system can repattern itself to a higher order of consciousness and freedom without the predicted economic, environmental, or social collapse.... If the system could go either way, a slight intervention to assist the convergence of the positive can tip the scales of evolution in favour of the enhancement of life on Earth.”

Thanks for putting these thoughts out there! Power over does not result necessarily in powerlessness or aggression. As others have pointed out, there are many choices to move forward - power from within, power with as working together, power to do what we can, and also power for - we can give from within and what we have. Why not?! Change for what we want is not going to wait to happen on its own.
