The challenge - what would a sustainable economy look like?
Like our global energy crises there must be economically sustainable as well. We assume that because a dollar circulates from your hand to Wal-Mart’s stockholders hands that our economic system is sustainable - but it is not.
The problem is not money - money is merely as unit of measure. Blaming a unit of measure for what drives the heart of man, well is the nature of man. Therefore the first problem of a unit of money is the human heart. The second and real problem with a unit of money is in the growth calculation used for compound interest. Compound interest is based upon the mathematical rule of 72. The rule of 72: the interest rate is divided in the number 72 and the result of the number of years required for the unit of money to double in value. For example: 5% interest divided into 72 results with 12, therefore every 12 years the principal amount doubles in value meaning 1 becomes 2 and 100 becomes 200 but in trillions such as our deficit - well you do the math but realize that the interest will certainly change significantly by the time you completed a single calculation.
The challenge presented is that in a futuristic society such non-sustainable rules would be restricted from education and healthcare.
If this program was from the World Bank - what would be your response?

How easily does the chatter flow about ways to fix America. America was a good concept, until capitalism and wealth concentrated. Then, like magic, powerful elite pulled the levers and presto - another oligarchy was established. Like an undercurrent in the ocean, these 'elitists' lurk in the depths and control the innocents through power and control. They are a cancer that should be exorcised from the American body.
We can't elect 'good' millionaires to office to fix corruption. We can't elect honest Abes who would surround themselves with decent people and appoint judges with sound principles. So, my answer to your Rule of 72s problem? Go local and get sustainable. I live in a neighborhood with fences. People live isolated with TVs blaring. How about cutting down the fence between you and your neighbor and planting a garden? Perhaps the neighbor up the hill gets all the rain. That's useful. Construct a rain storage system with filters for the dry times. And of course, share, share, share.
Pretty soon, you won't need the fancy cars and glittering jewels because you will be sharing a nice apple pie from the tree in your neighbors yard. How's that for a law of diminishing, but tasteful, returns on your investment. Move away from materials that support the elite by learning to be healthy (no pharmaceuticals$$$), ride a bike, grow your own organics, constantly educate and be educated constantly. Let the elite consume themselves.
How exactly did certain slumbering dinosaurs live on this planet for 100 million years, but here we are: going on 25,000 years and we are absolutely cruising down the path of extinction. That's lame. Big old Dinosaurs with small, pea-sized brains figured something out that we seem oblivious to. Grow up. Be smart. Think.

I'm so on the same page -- am also meditating again, after a 20 year lapse! Had it in my back pocket all this time--and suddenly realized---I need to do this again.
I went to see my old house last week--it was on 5 acres, I had planted 3 apple trees, dozens of avo's, lemons, even a cinnamon tree--also mangos, papayas--up the wazoo...So here's this guy that bought my old beautiful house--standing there in his bicycle wet suit/looking outfit, and his little hell-met. Yeah. He was cool, real bitchin'. Anyway, I looked closer and noticed -- all the trees were gone. I nearly projectile puked all over his cute little bike shoes.He said he had to bulldoze all the trees...tooo messy. Yeah--I wanted to choke the little weasel..He's putting up vinyl siding on the house--removing skylites. Yeah, he's bitchin. We got a lot a them here--Rich creepy men who drink a lot, have way too much money, surround themselves with five or ten or wo 20 acres of golf course grass, ots of tv's and toys, with a token 'orchard' to hire south american's to do the work, that's just for an 'ag' tax break--but they don't want any fruit trees--His comment was, I got a Costco card for food. I loved that. Oh yeah...LOVED IT. Kill all the fruit trees and plant grass. Good idea. Turn the beautiful house into a vinyl sided surburban rathole. This is the future....people who are aesthetically, biologically, environmentally, spiritually bankrupt. With all the money. God Bless F'ing America. I'm gonna have to meditate for about 20 hours now, thinking about this reptilian mutant who belongs on the Moon--without plants, water or wildlife. The moon, that's what they need, an exclusive club for JUST THEM...maybe they won't want to come back..wouldn't that be PERFECT. ......?

So I think a planetary solution - with stigmergic governance via the web rather than a government (see http://journal.media-culture.org.au/0605/03-elliott.php for a definition of stigmergy) - is in order. We must have free energy and therefore no need for money for this to be effective. And there are plenty of free energy technologies that have been hidden for the very reason that free energy removes the need for money - and the power over Others money buys. My work involves bringing these technologies to the fore - in particular, electrogravitics, as it also offers gravity control (flying cars!) and is negentropic (cooling rather than heat is its signature) and non-polluting.
